WELCOME

Welcome to Athlone Elementary School!

Athlone is located in the Athlone Community and includes the Dunvegan Community west of the school. Our school is a working partnership between students, staff, parents, and the community. We are a student-centered school who are committed to strong educational programs delivered in a supportive, nurturing, and safe environment. Our school-wide focus on literacy in all subject areas provides a strong foundation for students which allows them to achieve their own optimal levels across the curriculum.

We offer four educational programs at Athlone: Full Day Kindergarten, Regular Grades 1-6, Interactions, and Connections.

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION

For the 2024 - 2025 school year, Athlone School is full in planned classes in Grade 6 in the regular program. We will now only accept resident students in Grade 6 whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have newly moved into the school’s attendance area for the regular program. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.

If you are registering for Kindergarten or are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.

CURRENT DIVISION STUDENTS PRE-ENROL

You will need to pre-enrol on SchoolZone to tell us the school you'd like your child to attend next year. Find important dates and deadlines and learn more about pre-enrolment, which opens February 01, 2024.

If you questions about registering for school, please contact the school office.

Principal's Message

On behalf of the staff at Athlone School, it is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all students and their families.

I am excited for the 2024-2025 school year and look forward to working and learning together.

At Athlone school, we focus on “Learners as leaders”, and strive to build leaders, one child at a time.  Our students and staff work together to build self-confidence while developing accountability, effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

We work daily to uphold Edmonton Public Schools Vision: “Enhancing pathways for student success.”

Our staff are committed to providing high quality learning environments supported by strong teacher practices,  that focus on literacy, numeracy, and fostering resiliency in our students. This is enhanced by our many community partners who provide afterschool programs and also support our students in various ways throughout the school day.

Family engagement in their child’s learning is encouraged and we look forward to working with families to enhance their child's elementary school experience.

The A-team works alongside parents and its many community partners towards fostering success for all.  Together is better!

Yours in partnership,

Janette Pethick, Principal
