WELCOME

Welcome to Athlone Elementary School.

WELCOME! Athlone is located in the Athlone Community and includes the Dunvegen Community to the west of the school. Our school is a working partnership between students, staff, parents, and the community. We are a student-centred school community committed to strong educational programs delivered in a supportive, nurturing, and safe environment. We believe that our school-wide focus on literacy in all subject areas will provide a strong foundation for students to attain their personal optimum levels of achievement across the curriculum.

We offer three educational programs at Athlone: Full Day KindergartenRegular Grade 1 - 6, and Behavior and Learning Assistance Program

Pre-enrol in SchoolZone

Get ready for the 2022-23 school year! Sign in to your parent SchoolZone account between March 8 and April 14 to select your child’s preferred school for next year. If you're interested in online learning pre-enrol at Argyll Centre.

Whether your child is staying at the same school or changing schools, all students need to pre-enrol. Knowing how many students to expect helps schools prepare to welcome them in September.

If you need help, contact the school or read the pre-enrolment handout

Moved?

Update your child’s current address with the school office before pre-enrolling in SchoolZone.

New to the Division?
Instead of using SchoolZone, students who are new to Edmonton Public Schools need to submit a completed Student Registration form. Find the form and list of supporting documents you need to provide.

Principal's Message

On behalf of the staff at Athlone School, it is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all students and their families.

I am excited to join the Athlone school community as principal for the 2021-2022 school year, and look forward to working and learning together, as I get to know each and every student, staff member and family.

At Athlone school we focus on “Learners as leaders”, and strive to build leaders, one child at a time.  Our students work together as learners to build and gain self-confidence while developing skills in; leadership, accountability, problem-solving, and effective communication.

We work each day to uphold Edmonton Public Schools Vision of: “Success, one student at time”.

In this regard we focus on literacy and numeracy skills; while meeting each and every student where they are at. School staff provide engaging high quality learning opportunities that are supported by strong teaching practices.

Parent engagement in their child’s learning is welcomed, and encouraged and we look forward to working with families to enhance their childs elementary school experience.

The A-team works alongside parents and it’s many community partners towards fostering success for all.  Together is better!

Yours in partnership,

Janette Pethick, Principal
